Overlook :

Saksham, a young man with dreams to change the world but somehow lacking in the courage to do that, meets totally alien circumstances which helps him to look forward in this world courageously. He met a philosopher, who helps him unravel the complexities of today’s civilized human world, and a young beautiful woman who rekindles his passion for life. Their belief in him empowers Saksham to launch an attack against organized evil.

The journey of Saksham of changing the society takes him to different levels and each level opens up new possibilities but what if, Saksham knows that he is having limited time to act, what if Saksham is aware that he have to act now or he will just have dwell in his own thoughts of pity? This story is about the fight of one man against the society.

‘Wings of Courage’ is a moving tale of passion and courage, for without them, our dreams may never come true.

Beauty :

  • Plot.
  • Characterization.
  • Author’s way to unfold the story.
  • Association with real life events.
  • Author’s way of keeping it simple yet effective.

Beast :

  • Plot getting stretched.
  • Supernatural angel looked unnecessary.

Review :

‘Wings of courage’ is a bit courageous tale by Sanjay Kumar which speaks about the evils in our society like corruption, rape, evil governance, etc and also gives an insight of what common man thinks about that all and what can be done to eradicate it from our society. For showcasing the problems, author linked the storyline with some real life events like Nirbhaya case, hit and run case, etc. As the story unfolds, it keep on changing it’s gears and that’s what I like about it, it never felt that you can assume what’s going to happen next.

Initially, I said that, this book is a courageous attempt by Sanjay because it speaks of the solution of evils around us and that solution is a bit controversial. Many of us will start to have a debate for hours on the topic without even coming an inch near to the conclusion. But personally, I am in the favor of ‘the solution’.

Now talking about the pros. The plot of the book is fantastic, although it is not a unique plot, as we have heard about it a lot, but for the first time it will be presented to you in such thorough detail. Characterization is good. Saksham, being the protagonist, is explained brilliantly, his thought process is a kind of ‘Must Read’. Now talking about the quality of author. He is pretty good in presenting his story. He divided his story in different levels and pretty carefully takes the reader from one level to another, which makes the reader glued with the book. He kept the book simple yet effective and that’s the thing I love when I read.

Now the cons. Firstly, the cover deviates. The book looks like a fantasy fiction but it is not. The blurb also makes you think in the same way. Now coming to the story. The first thing is that the supernatural part where Almighty comes down to survey Earth looked like total non-sense. That gave false hopes to the reader that now the story will move towards supernatural stuff and some fantasy will land up. Now the other thing which I felt as the ‘Beast’ was that the plot, sometimes was getting stretched too much. If the story would have been more crispier, it would have taken over the mind of reader more strongly.

Conclusion :

For the first time, I felt socio-political genre interesting. It speaks no philosophy, just facts and a concrete solution. It will make you think differently and may give you the ‘Wings Of Courage’ to change the world  you live in.

TAB’S REVIEW

She have secrets, she has pain, she have sorrows, she have crushed dreams, she had the darkest past one could imagine of but a little smile on her face was enough to fool the world.

Maya meets a lawyer Harsh, over the case of illegal termination of her from the company where she worked which was owned by a powerful man named Jograj.

The case seemed open and shut to Harsh but he could read the depth of it from the circumstances Maya had to go through and then Jograj’s attempt of making Harsh withdraw from this case.

Deepali, a psychiatrist tries to go deep into the past of Maya and the things which comes up shakes the soul of the reader.

I’M A Woman is an intelligent, thoroughly researched and intriguing read.

BEAUTY

  • Character of Maya is so mysterious that she will force you to read her till the end.
  • Dialogues (A thriller feels more thrilling when its decorated with nerve shaking dialogues which hits you like BAMM!!!)
  • Characterization. (Author will make you have a deep swim in the personal life of her novel’s characters)
  • Short with words but strong with Impact.
  • Thought process of different characters on the same event is interesting to read.
  • The sessions of Deepali and Maya. (Those were well researched and were knowledgeable too.)

BEAST

  • Repetition of events.
  • Being a trilogy, it had to face one drawback, that it ends abruptly. Many things are left in a hurry.
  • Thrill part in the second halve seems missing.

SANDY’S VIEW

The innovative and different title, being a trilogy, debutante author and a thriller really raised the bar of expectations for me. I expected it to be a real mind bursting novel.

It started pretty well. The depth of description in her writing really impressed me. She described each and every thing to perfection. The character detailing, thought process of characters over a event and dialogues kept me glued with the novel. The character of Maya is the one which is difficult to express in words. It would take really hard to make the readers believe that this kind of character can exist and Mallika had done a fabulous job. Maya thinks differently. She lives in her own world. As the story advances, she unfolds the truth of society, the evil truth of society in which we live and call ourselves social animals. The innocence of a child in the talks of an adult was the task which the author had to perform through the character of Maya.

Now coming on the other characters. Harsh looked promising but he losses his presence in the story very soon. Jograj seemed to be interesting but he too disappears as the story advances. Deepali was the only character which remained till the end with Maya but she had nothing to do in the story-line.

Coming to the overall story. It started of well as a thriller but then losses its grip altogether till the end of it. But as it is a trilogy, I hope that other two compensate this loss. It is now mandatory for the author to focus on the thrill and ‘wow’ portions in the coming parts of the series.

Insensitive India

******

Is rape all about inhuman aspects of certain individuals? Is it simply driven by lust? Or it has more to do with mental retardation? All these questions erupted four months ago, when a medical student was fatally raped by a gang of goons. They went unanswered for long but it seems they are plausibly answered today, by an equally spine chilling rape of a five year old girl. So was that driven by lust? Or humanity failed to distinguish a small child in eyes of that pervert?
What India as a whole has lost are emotions, sensitivity towards other’s pain. What made that rascal brutally assault the five year old kid was nothing but a larger manifestation of this insensitivity that actually all of us carry. For instance, if we see a guy dying on the road, in blood and gore we will respond by a few mumbles of sympathy and at the most a prayer for his soul to rest in peace for when he dies lying on the road in that awful condition. If we being among the genteel and educated class in India practice such kind of insensitivity then it’s obviously unwise to expect a rogue pervert to restrain from his satan like cruelty.
The same insensitivity was evident when ACP Bani Singh Ahlawat slapped the girl protester after being aggravated by the incessant protest. So what was the surprise for? We carry similar traits in our souls in different proportions; we are one amongst the insensitive civilization that India has lately developed.
Gandhi JI famously said “be the change you want to see in the world”. Its right to raise voice against the wrongs and it’s our right to protest against the same. But if this highly motivated and young generation of our beloved country wants something to actually change, then that has to come from within, if we abandon the smaller scars in our being, and begin to turn sensitive towards other’s pain then automatically the larger sins in this society will perish to null. So let’s not just raise our voice, let’s make our voice stronger by being more human in this country of Gods.
