Ishani had everything in her life of which she could demand from god. She was young, pretty and multi-talented. She was kind of a girl who was like a magnet to others, everyone felt her attraction. The only thing which always went wrong with her was ‘Relationship’. She built strong bonds in her life with the kind of people who knew nothing about this term. She lost her trust umpteen times in her life and that took away her best asset of hers from her life, her ‘Smile’. Cheer Up! is about Ishani’s life’s ups and downs and how she got devastated and then rebuilt herself to get destroyed again by others.
SANDY’S REVIEW :
The first look at the Title and book cover gives you the hint of the story and when you turn the book to read the blurb you gets clear on your pre-assumption. The book cover is designed by Amol Karambe and I must say that he is a fabulous designer but this one is not from one of his ‘best’ list.
The story starts up with Ishani narrating her own story to someone. It is then taken in a flashback and then starts the series of characters description. Ila took pretty long time to describe and build characters for her story to start.
Ila is pretty good with evoking your emotions for the characters you are reading. She did excellent job in taking over your heart for her protagonist Ishani. She used pretty strong language for Ishani and that’s what I liked about her writing style. Ila kept the flow of story constant throughout the book. She seldom gave insight of a girl’s mind regarding relationship which could be a bit informative for all the male readers who wonders about this concept. *winks*
Another feature about the book was Ishani’s poetry. Ila is pretty good with words and that shows in her poetic hand.
FINAL VERDICT :
Cheer up! is purely an emotional ride for the reader. Positives for the book is the writer’s writing style but the story lacks in between. Overall I would like to say that the book deserves to be read and cherished for at least once.
